OIL PAINTING (ADULT/TEEN)

This ADULT or TEEN course is designed for students who would like to advance in their painting skills or learn the media of oil. Lynne will individualize instruction based on student need, while presenting topics that all can learn from. Lynne will meet privately with each enrolled new student before the first class at no charge to review the student’s work and interests.

 

Students provide their own materials, and recommended lists will be sent to those who need to buy supplies.


Five classes, 3 hours each, $170

SECTION 1 Tues. Evening, 6-9 PM January 17, 24, 31 Feb 7,14

SECTION 2 Wed. Morning, 9Am-Noon PM, January 18, 25, Feb 1, 8, 15

Registration Deadline: Section 1  or 2 January  11

                          

CLASS SIZE – MINiMUM 3, MAXIMUM 6 STUDENTS

 

DRAWING 1 (ADULT AND TEEN)

 

This is a class for those who have had little experience in drawing, but would like to be able to draw realistically. We will move through a range of introductory lessons to various drawing media and approaches. Included will be  a focus on creating a line which gives the essential information, shading to show light’s impact on a form, and developing a composition that engages the viewer.  Suitable for adults and teens.

 

Materials needed: spiral bound sketchbook 9x12 or larger with acid-free paper, 70lb. weight or more, 2B, 4B & 6B drawing pencils and a fine-line black felt-tip pen. For beginners or those who wish to strengthen basic skills. CLASS WILL BE INDIVIDUALIZED FOR REPEAT STUDENTS

 

5 classes, 1.5 hours each, $85

CLASS SIZE – MINUMUM 3, MAXIMUM 6 STUDENTS

 

 

 

THE YOUNG ARTIST CLASS  (Young Artist 8-10)

 

This class is designed for the young artist who is serious about art and would like to get stronger in his or her drawing and painting skills. The two hour class will focus on exploring a wide range of drawing and painting media while we focus on both basic skills and finding the art that fits student’s interests. Lynne will meet privately with each enrolled new student before the first class at no charge to review the student’s work and interests. This class may be repeated as often as desired with individualization.

 

Students will need to purchase and bring to EACH class:

         1. a set of 24 or more prismacolor premier pencils and sharpener

         2. a 9x12 or larger spiral bound sketchbook that has acid-free paper of at least 70 lb. weight

        

Paints and other materials will be provided by the teacher

 

5 classes, 2 hours each, $120 (includes $10 materials fee)

SECTION 1: Thursday, 3:15 – 5:15; January 19, 26, Feb. 2, 9, 16

 

SECTION 2, Friday 3:15 – 5:15; January, 20, 27, Feb 3, 10, 17

 

Registration Deadline: Section 1 or 2- January 12

                            

CLASS SIZE – MINUMUM 3, MAXIMUM 6 STUDENTS

 

 

THE PRETEEN ARTIST CLASS AGES 10-12

 

This class is designed for the preteen artist (ages 10-12) who is serious about art and would like to get stronger in his or her drawing and painting skills. In this two hour class, we will learn how to draw or paint objects with increased realism, how to work with the portrait and figure and consider how art can express our emotions by the way we use color and line. Lynne will meet privately with each enrolled new student before the first class at no charge to review the student’s work and interests. This class may be repeated as often as desired with individualization.

 

Students will need to purchase and bring to EACH class:

         1. a set of 24 or more prismacolor premier pencils and sharpener

         2. a 9x12 or larger spiral bound sketchbook that has acid-free paper of at least 70 lb. weight

         3. 2B, 4B, and 6B graphite pencils

         4. a fine line magic marker

Paints and other materials will be provided by the teacher

 

5 classes, 2 hours each, $120 (includes $10 materials fee)

SECTION 1:  Saturday 10 AM – 12 PM Jan. 21, 28, Feb 4, 11, 18

Registration Deadline: January 14.

Lynne Schulte LaValley, who has over 30 years experience as an art teacher and artist, will be offering adult and teen art classes on a regular basis at Lynne’s teaching studio at the Scala Art Center in Georgetown, MA. Lynne is an artist with expertise in oils, watercolor, pastel, drawing, ceramics and mixed media art. She is an exhibiting artist and member of the North Shore, Newburyport, Cape Cod Art and Marblehead Art Associations. Lynne's work is also available at Sisters We Three in Newburyport.
